Katherine “Kat” Smith is formerly a co-host of a morning radio show with ABC Radio Networks and began a career in modeling at age seventeen. She is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. Kat attended high school in Beaumont, Texas before residing in Dallas. She came to the Census Bureau in January of 2009 as a Media Specialist for the Dallas Regional office.
Kat began a modeling and acting career in film, print, commercials, voice and print work early and became a member of The Screen Actors Guild after being cast for many commercials, industrial films and a movie. Her voice over experience led to a four year syndicated morning radio show with ABC Radio Networks, Inc where she’d interviewed actors, musicians and authors including; Gospel greats like Yolanda Adams and Kirk Franklin, Entertainment legion Billy Dee Williams, actor Allan Payne, comedian Arnez J and LaValle Crawford and musicians like Miles J and Keith Sweat.
After working her way through the Fashion and Art Institute of Dallas, she was employed with several Fortune 500 companies as well as developed small to medium sized business client. Through these relationships, Kat has achieved an extensive back-ground in wholesale and retail sales, account management, marketing, public relations, media relations and business operations.
In 1996, Kat formed K.S. & Associates (KSA) to which she provided copy writing and marketing concept development services. In 2001 she added publishing to her repertoire. In 2004, her resourcefulness and an entrepreneurial spirit inspired her to dissolve KSA and launch her present company TomKat Productions.
In Kat’s career as a writer, her first article was published in the high school newspaper, and she went on to have work publish domestically and internationally for several magazine and newspapers. She is a copywriter, freelance writer, ghost writer and is the author of The Book Seller’s List, Publishing Step by Step and Love the Vicious Cycle. Most recently, she has released two books - The Naked Author-Exposing the Myths of Publishing, and I’m Tall You’re Not So That Makes Us Even (A short book about TALL women)
