I have recently been experiencing serious writer's block. I contributed it to all the irons I have in the fire and a much needed vacation. To offset my stress, I tuned back into Black America. Upon perusing my many websites, I stumbled upon www.blacknews.com' highlights for the day. My main focus was the thought of Ebony Magazine Up For Sale. I must say, I am not the one to follow gossip. However, the other titles did catch my attention and gave me a much needed reprieve. My responses went from…

This is something worth reading
BILL COSBY - A MUST READ
The Reverend Jesse Jackson almost never gets
upstaged and I had never seen the Reverend
Jesse Louis Jackson cry in public until last month.
Jackson invited Bill Cosby to the annual Rainbow /
PUSH conference for a conversation about the
controversial remarks the entertainer offered on
May 17 at an NAACP dinner in Washington , D.C.
when America 's Jell-O Man shook things up
by arguing that African Americans were betraying
the…

In remembrance of 911, take a moment and reflect on how great this nation is and what it could be like without freedom. This should serve as a reminder, just as we did for Bush, no matter what your differences are with the President, in the best interest of ALL AMERICANS we must support HIS decisions. Free wil…

Labor Day was designed as a day off for laborers with the change from one season to another. Society has managed to turn it into another commercial day off. Plan for tommorrow but preserve what the day was meant to be...A day of rest and celebration for family and friends. Just as the day passes...This…

This blog started out as an congratulations to the Chicago Defender Charities as the Bud Billiken Parade celebrates 80 years! Now it has become a commentary.
Did we know one of the criteria for the major sponsors Coca Cola, Citibank, Cricket is to offer scholarships as part of their sponsorship packages for college students? Another reason the Black Community should continue to support our own no matter how challenging it may get. I love the Chicago FUBU factor-For Us By Us! Native Chicagoans n…

What's my Motivation? Jesus! What's my Inspiration? While we are trying to figure it out, He has already worked it out. Let go and let God!
This week has been eventful, peaceful, a disappointment and a blessing all in one. I thank God for the trails and tribulations as well as the favors. I have so much energy to just jump right back into the game of publishing. Each time I want to throw caution to the wind and just do it all over again. The Lord has a way of letting me know, my healing is not…

On behlf of the Jayde Publishing Community our prayers and condolences goes out to the family of E. Lynn Harris. I was saddened to learn of his passing. One thing I have learned in this quest to become a bonafide writer, there is room for many genres. Although his style may not have been mine, it does not take away from the awesome craft and talent this writer has contributed to the publishing industry. Success may be questioned but never disputed. With this in mind, I salute his work and many c…

July 31, 2009
A week ago today, the literary world was shocked and saddened by the unexpected death of author E. Lynn Harris. He was on the West Coast in the middle of a book tour when he was found dead in his hotel room. Mr. Harris died as a result of heart disease with diabetes being a contributing factor. It’s been reported that a few days before he died, he was ill and passed out, but refused to see a doctor or go to the hospital
Mr. Harris’ first novel was self-published and sold out of t…

My response to Tyler Perry's Act of Kindness towards Philadelphia!
Kudos for you taking a stand! What you are doing is great, but that is only half the solution. I am livid. First Barack's citizenship is questioned, again. MJ is not worthy to be deemed a humanitarian despite giving more than any other individual, (the Genius Book no less) and found NOT GUILTY in a court of law. Now this! After watching CNN's Black in America 2 last night, I agree with Bev Smith, we as a people have forgot how t…
